WorkSafe ACT is a fully independent office headed by the WHS Commissioner, who is the Territory’s regulator. WorkSafe ACT is committed to cultural and organisational change to become a professional, modern, intelligence-led responsive regulator.

WorkSafe ACT is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by duty holders with the Work Health and Safety ACT 2011 (WHS Act) and associated legislation including dangerous substances, worker’s compensation and labour hire licensing.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly capable professional to fill the role of Chief Finance Officer and Executive Branch Manager (EBM).

The role is responsible for providing leadership to the team responsible for supporting the financial management of WorkSafe ACT. The position assists in the delivery of a range of financial accountability functions within the agency.

Additionally, the role is responsible for the strategic management and operational delivery of strategy and enabling services functions including communications and engagement, human resources, capability, project management and business planning, procurement, information technology, governance and risk management; and WHS, workers’ compensation, licensing and long service leave policy development.

This challenging yet rewarding role plays an integral part in maintaining the effective operations of the agency. This role would suit someone with highly developed organisational skills and experience at a senior level delivering financial services to an operational or regulatory agency.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting recognised by a professional accounting association. Including membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or the Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Must not be disqualified from managing corporations or acting as a Chief Finance Officer by ASIC and/or other regulatory or professional bodies.

Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $265,492 - $276,106 depending on the current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $235,867. 

Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on referee reports and written application only. This position will be in a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
