Details: Are you passionate about working with animals and ready to take the next step in your career? CIT Science is seeking a dedicated, part-time Animal Care Officer to oversee the welfare of various companion animals used for teaching purposes. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, an excellent communicator, and capable of supervising both animal attendant staff and animals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Previous experience in an animal care setting is essential. The Animal Care Officer will be responsible for overseeing the welfare and enrichment of all animals on-site, including dogs, cats, fish, and chickens, while preparing and supporting classes within the CIT Science department in consultation with teaching staff. The role involves liaising with clients and stakeholders to ensure the provision of animals for teaching purposes, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with Animal Ethics Committee requirements and relevant legislation. Additionally, the officer will manage stock levels of consumables, assist in the maintenance of equipment, and perform minor repairs as needed. The Animal Care Officer will also need to be able to work flexible hours to tend to animal welfare including weekend and public holidays as required. This position does involve direct supervision of animal attendants.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Highly desirable -Certificate III in Animal Care and/or Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training.

Notes: This is a temporary, part-time (0.8FTE) position available immediately until the end of the year with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Temporary employment offered as a result of this advertisement may lead to permanency/promotion as per the Public Sector Management Standards, Section 14 – Direct appointment of employee – general, and Section 20 – Direct promotion - general and CIT Enterprise Agreements.
